Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 24 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to products and services supplied by NextStep Flooring (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2026/260087/07, and should be read together with any quotation, invoice, project specification or other written agreement provided to the customer.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to remove or restrict any rights that a customer has under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA") or any other applicable South African law.

NextStep Flooring supplies and installs flooring and provides related flooring services in Port Alfred and surrounding areas.
2. Quotations
Quotations are based on the information available to us at the time they are prepared.
A quotation may take into account:
-
measurements;
-
flooring products selected;
-
quantities required;
-
accessories and trims;
-
delivery;
-
labour;
-
removal of existing flooring;
-
subfloor preparation;
-
installation requirements; and
-
other project-specific work.
Unless otherwise stated in writing, quotations are valid for 14 days from the date of issue and remain subject to product availability and final confirmation of the project requirements.
If the customer changes the scope, flooring selection, quantities or other requirements after the quotation has been issued, we may provide a revised quotation.
Obvious pricing, calculation or typographical errors may be corrected before an order is accepted.
3. Measurements
Where NextStep Flooring measures the installation area, pricing will be based on the measurements and site information obtained during our assessment.
Flooring quantities may include reasonable allowances for:
-
cutting;
-
pattern matching;
-
wastage;
-
room shape;
-
installation method; and
-
manufacturer recommendations.
Where a customer supplies measurements without a NextStep Flooring site measurement, the customer is responsible for the accuracy of those measurements.
We are not responsible for shortages, excess material or additional costs caused solely by incorrect measurements supplied by the customer.
This does not affect the customer's statutory rights where an error was caused by NextStep Flooring.
4. Acceptance of a Quotation
A quotation is not considered accepted merely because it has been issued.
Acceptance occurs when the customer confirms acceptance in writing or another agreed recordable form and pays the required deposit.
Once accepted, the quotation together with these Terms & Conditions and any written project specifications forms the agreement between NextStep Flooring and the customer.
5. Deposits and Payment
A 75% deposit is normally required before materials are ordered and the project is confirmed.
The remaining 25% balance is due on completion of the agreed work, unless a different payment arrangement is stated in writing in the quotation.
Payment requirements will be set out in the quotation or invoice.
Customers remain responsible for amounts properly due for products supplied and services performed.
Deposits are not described as automatically or unconditionally non-refundable. Where an order or project is cancelled after the deposit has been paid, any refund, deduction or cancellation charge will be determined according to the circumstances, costs already reasonably incurred and applicable consumer law.
6. Product Availability
Flooring products are subject to supplier and manufacturer availability.
We cannot guarantee that a product will remain available indefinitely after a quotation has been issued.
If a selected product becomes unavailable after an order has been accepted, we will discuss reasonable alternatives with the customer.
We will not substitute a materially different product without the customer's agreement.
Any change in product may result in a revised price.
7. Natural Variation and Product Appearance
Customers acknowledge that flooring products may display reasonable variations in:
-
colour;
-
shade;
-
grain;
-
pattern;
-
texture;
-
knots;
-
markings; and
-
appearance between production batches.
This is particularly relevant to natural products such as timber, but may also apply to manufactured flooring and carpet.
Samples, photographs, screens and showroom displays are intended to provide a reasonable representation but may not exactly match the final installed product.
Reasonable natural or manufacturing variation is not necessarily a defect.
Nothing in this clause limits rights relating to genuinely defective, incorrectly supplied or materially misrepresented goods.
8. Dye Lots and Production Batches
Where possible, flooring required for a project should be ordered from the same production batch or dye lot.
Additional flooring ordered later may differ slightly in shade, texture or appearance.
NextStep Flooring cannot guarantee an exact match between flooring purchased at different times or from different manufacturing batches.
9. Subfloor Assessment and Preparation
The performance and appearance of new flooring can depend heavily on the condition of the existing subfloor.
Subfloor preparation may include:
-
cleaning;
-
repairs;
-
levelling;
-
smoothing;
-
moisture assessment;
-
removal of loose material;
-
removal of old adhesives; or
-
other preparation appropriate to the flooring being installed.
Some subfloor problems may not be visible until existing flooring is removed or work begins.
If unexpected conditions are discovered, we will explain the issue to the customer before undertaking material additional work where reasonably practicable.
Additional preparation outside the original quotation may result in additional charges, which should be agreed with the customer before proceeding.
10. Moisture and Site Conditions
Some flooring products require appropriate moisture conditions before installation.
Where necessary, NextStep Flooring may recommend or require:
-
moisture testing;
-
additional drying time;
-
damp treatment;
-
subfloor repairs; or
-
another corrective measure.
Installation may need to be delayed where conditions are unsuitable and proceeding could reasonably damage the flooring or compromise the installation.
Customers should disclose any known:
-
water leaks;
-
damp problems;
-
flooding;
-
plumbing issues;
-
structural problems;
-
previous moisture damage; or
-
other conditions that could affect the flooring.
11. Existing Flooring
Where removal of existing flooring forms part of the agreed project, this will be included in the quotation.
Removal may reveal conditions that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand, including:
-
damaged subfloors;
-
moisture problems;
-
unsuitable adhesives;
-
uneven surfaces;
-
cracks;
-
rot; or
-
other hidden defects.
Where additional work becomes necessary, we will discuss it with the customer before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
12. Removal and Disposal of Existing Flooring
Where agreed as part of the project, NextStep Flooring will remove and dispose of the existing flooring, and the associated cost will be included in the quotation.
If removal or disposal is not included in the quotation, it is not automatically included in the project.
Any unusual disposal requirements or additional costs discovered after removal begins will be discussed with the customer where reasonably practicable.
13. Furniture and Room Preparation
Customers should remove small, fragile, valuable and personal items from the installation area before work begins.
NextStep Flooring will move ordinary household furniture where reasonably necessary for the installation.
This does not automatically include items that are unusually:
-
heavy;
-
fragile;
-
valuable;
-
difficult to move; or
-
likely to require specialist handling.
Examples may include:
-
safes;
-
pianos;
-
large appliances;
-
built-in furniture;
-
specialist electrical equipment; and
-
particularly delicate or valuable items.
Where specialist furniture moving is required, this should be discussed before installation.
14. Access to the Property
The customer must provide reasonable and safe access to the property on agreed installation days.
This includes access necessary for:
-
workers;
-
materials;
-
tools;
-
equipment; and
-
vehicles where reasonably required.
The installation area should be reasonably clear and ready for work unless other arrangements have been agreed.
Delays caused by unavailable access, unsafe conditions or a site that has not been prepared as agreed may affect the installation schedule and may result in reasonable additional costs where appropriate.
15. Utilities
Where reasonably necessary for installation, the customer should provide access to normal household or commercial utilities such as:
-
electricity;
-
lighting; and
-
water.
Any unusual requirements should be discussed before installation.
16. Installation Dates
Installation dates are arranged in good faith.
We will make reasonable efforts to attend and complete work according to the agreed schedule.
However, dates may need to change due to circumstances reasonably outside our control, including:
-
supplier delays;
-
product shortages;
-
transport disruption;
-
unsafe site conditions;
-
unsuitable moisture levels;
-
illness;
-
severe weather;
-
unexpected subfloor problems; or
-
other events that reasonably prevent installation.
Where an unavoidable delay occurs, we will communicate with the customer and arrange a reasonable alternative.
17. Installation Duration
Any installation timeframe provided before work starts is an estimate unless expressly agreed otherwise.
The actual duration may be affected by:
-
room size;
-
flooring type;
-
preparation requirements;
-
site access;
-
hidden subfloor problems;
-
drying or curing periods; and
-
other project-specific conditions.
18. Customer Changes After Acceptance
If the customer requests changes after accepting the quotation, NextStep Flooring may revise:
-
the price;
-
quantities;
-
material requirements;
-
installation date; and
-
expected completion time.
Changes should be confirmed in writing or another recordable form wherever reasonably possible.
19. Cancellations
Customers should notify NextStep Flooring of any cancellation before paying the 75% deposit wherever possible.
Once the deposit has been paid, NextStep Flooring may order flooring, materials and accessories and allocate resources to the project.
If the customer cancels after the deposit has been paid, reasonable costs already incurred may be deducted from any refund where permitted by law.
These may include:
-
materials already ordered;
-
supplier cancellation charges;
-
special-order products;
-
delivery costs;
-
work already performed;
-
administration reasonably associated with the cancelled order; and
-
other unavoidable costs arising from the cancellation.
Any cancellation charge will be reasonable in the circumstances and will not be intended as a penalty.
Any statutory cancellation or cooling-off rights that apply to a particular transaction remain unaffected.
20. Rescheduling
Customers should give NextStep Flooring as much notice as reasonably possible if an installation needs to be rescheduled.
Where materials have already been ordered, rescheduling does not cancel the underlying order unless otherwise agreed.
If a late change causes unavoidable additional costs, these may be discussed with the customer before the rescheduled work proceeds.
21. Special-Order and Cut Products
Certain flooring products may be specially ordered, cut, manufactured, allocated or otherwise prepared specifically for a customer's project.
Customers should be made aware where products fall into this category before the order is placed.
Cancellation or return options for such goods may be more limited where permitted by applicable law and may depend on whether the supplier can reasonably cancel, return or resell the goods.
This clause does not remove any rights relating to defective goods, incorrect supply or rights that cannot legally be excluded.
22. Customer-Supplied Flooring or Materials
Where NextStep Flooring agrees to install products supplied by the customer, our responsibility is limited to the installation service we provide.
We cannot guarantee the quality, suitability, quantity, manufacturing consistency or warranty status of products that we did not supply.
If customer-supplied material is found to be:
-
defective;
-
unsuitable;
-
damaged;
-
insufficient; or
-
incompatible with the installation conditions,
additional costs or delays may arise.
We will inform the customer where a material issue becomes apparent before continuing where reasonably practicable.
23. Quality of Installation
NextStep Flooring will perform installation services with reasonable care and skill and to a standard that customers are generally entitled to expect.
Where goods are supplied or installed as part of our service, they should be suitable and of the quality required under applicable South African consumer law.
If a customer believes there is a problem with workmanship, they should contact us as soon as reasonably possible so that we can inspect and, where appropriate, remedy the issue.
24. Snagging and Installation Concerns
Customers are encouraged to inspect completed work and report any visible snagging or installation concerns within 7 days of completion.
This helps us inspect and address issues promptly.
The 7-day reporting period does not remove or reduce any statutory rights or valid warranty rights that may apply after that period.
Where a genuine workmanship issue exists, NextStep Flooring should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the issue and determine the appropriate remedy.
25. Product Warranties
Manufacturer warranties may apply to flooring products supplied by NextStep Flooring.
The terms, duration and exclusions of manufacturer warranties vary by:
-
manufacturer;
-
flooring range;
-
intended use;
-
installation method; and
-
product.
Manufacturer warranties are separate from any rights the customer has under applicable South African consumer law.
Where reasonably available, relevant manufacturer warranty information can be provided to the customer.
26. 12-Month Workmanship Guarantee
NextStep Flooring provides a 12-month workmanship guarantee on installation work completed by us, calculated from the date the installation is completed.
This guarantee covers genuine defects arising from the quality of NextStep Flooring's installation workmanship.
Where a valid workmanship issue is reported, we should be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the installation and, where appropriate, remedy the workmanship defect.
The workmanship guarantee does not normally cover problems caused by circumstances unrelated to our workmanship, including:
-
flooding;
-
water leaks;
-
excessive or rising moisture;
-
structural movement;
-
subfloor deterioration occurring after installation;
-
inappropriate cleaning products;
-
misuse;
-
accidental damage;
-
damage caused by third parties;
-
alterations carried out after installation;
-
customer-supplied defective products;
-
normal wear and tear; or
-
failure to follow relevant product care instructions.
This express 12-month guarantee operates in addition to, and does not replace or limit, any statutory rights the customer may have under applicable South African law.
27. Defective Goods
Where goods supplied by NextStep Flooring are defective or fail to meet applicable statutory quality requirements, the customer's rights under South African consumer law remain unaffected.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to replace or reduce any statutory warranty or remedy that applies to goods supplied to a consumer.
28. Care and Maintenance
Customers are responsible for following appropriate care and maintenance guidance for their chosen flooring after installation.
This may include guidance concerning:
-
cleaning products;
-
moisture precautions;
-
furniture protection;
-
maintenance procedures;
-
temperature or environmental recommendations; and
-
manufacturer-specific instructions.
Damage resulting from misuse, inappropriate maintenance or circumstances arising after installation may not constitute a product or workmanship defect.
29. Skirtings, Doors and Other Fixtures
Flooring installation can affect existing:
-
skirting boards;
-
doors;
-
door frames;
-
trims;
-
thresholds;
-
cupboards; and
-
other fixtures.
Where alterations, trimming or additional work are expected, these should be included in the quotation or agreed separately.
If an unexpected requirement becomes apparent during installation, we will discuss it with the customer before carrying out material additional work where reasonably practicable.
30. Existing Property Conditions
NextStep Flooring is responsible for taking reasonable care while working at the customer's property.
However, we are not responsible for deterioration or failure caused solely by a pre-existing condition that could not reasonably have been identified before work started.
This may include hidden:
-
structural defects;
-
weak or damaged subfloors;
-
plumbing leaks;
-
damp;
-
electrical problems;
-
concealed services; or
-
deterioration behind existing flooring.
Nothing in this clause excludes responsibility for damage caused by our negligence or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
31. Project Photographs
NextStep Flooring may ask permission to photograph completed work for:
-
project records;
-
our website;
-
Google Business Profile;
-
social media;
-
portfolio material; and
-
marketing.
Where photographs could identify a customer, another person, sensitive information or a private property in an inappropriate way, appropriate permission will be sought before public use.
Further information is available in our Privacy Policy.
32. Complaints
If a customer is unhappy with any aspect of our products or services, we ask that they contact us so that we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the issue.
Complaints can be sent to:
NextStep Flooring (Pty) Ltd
Telephone: +27 60 586 8983
Email: info.nsflooring@gmail.com
Please include enough information for us to understand:
-
the project;
-
the problem;
-
when it arose; and
-
the outcome being requested.
We will aim to deal with complaints fairly and reasonably.
Nothing in this process prevents a consumer from exercising rights or remedies available under applicable South African law.
33. Liability
NextStep Flooring will not seek to exclude liability where doing so would be unlawful.
Subject to applicable law, we are not responsible for loss or damage caused solely by:
-
information supplied incorrectly by the customer;
-
unauthorised third-party work;
-
customer misuse;
-
failure to follow care instructions;
-
normal wear and tear;
-
hidden pre-existing property defects;
-
events reasonably outside our control; or
-
products supplied by the customer where the loss did not arise from our installation work.
Any limitation of liability in these Terms must be interpreted consistently with the Consumer Protection Act and other applicable South African law.
34. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
Neither party will be treated as having failed to perform an obligation where performance is prevented or materially delayed by circumstances reasonably outside that party's control.
Such circumstances may include:
-
severe weather;
-
flooding;
-
fire;
-
major transport disruption;
-
supplier interruption;
-
civil unrest;
-
government restrictions;
-
widespread utility failure; or
-
other exceptional events.
This does not prevent either party from exercising rights available under applicable law.
35. Website Information
We make reasonable efforts to keep information on our website accurate and current.
However:
-
product ranges may change;
-
photographs may not reproduce colours exactly;
-
supplier availability may change;
-
website information is general in nature; and
-
final project pricing requires a quotation.
Website content does not replace a project-specific quotation or agreement.
36. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise stated, the content created for the NextStep Flooring website, including branding, written content, graphics and original project material, may not be copied or commercially reused without permission except where permitted by law.
Third-party trademarks, supplier logos, product photographs and other third-party intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.
37. Personal Information
Personal information collected by NextStep Flooring is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable South African data-protection law.

38. Electronic Communications
Customers may communicate with NextStep Flooring using electronic methods including:
-

-
WhatsApp;
-
website forms; and
-
other agreed digital channels.
Electronic acceptance of a quotation or written confirmation through an agreed communication channel may form part of the agreement between the parties where legally valid.
Customers should ensure that contact information provided to us remains accurate.
39. Changes to These Terms & Conditions
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
Updates will not retrospectively remove rights or materially change an already accepted customer agreement unless agreed between the parties or permitted by law.
The version applicable to a particular project will generally be the version supplied or made available when the quotation or agreement is accepted.
40. Severability
If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
41. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions and any agreement between NextStep Flooring (Pty) Ltd and a customer are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Customers retain any rights to approach appropriate courts, consumer bodies, regulators or dispute-resolution mechanisms available under applicable law.
